David and I removed the top layer of grass and have stacked it upside down along the hedgerow, this should rot down quite quickly and I will then dig it back into the border.
Once we had turned over the soil, removing roots and weeds, we dug in the compost we had removed from the bins yesterday. Gave it a good rake through and then I was ready to plant.
There was already a Rambling Rose which is now in the centre of the border. I have planted two different Clematis's and three Osmanthus shrubs along the fence. I have also planted a Cherry Tree which will give height and colour at the start of Spring.
My friend Beth has given me a fantastic amount of different plants that I have planted and mixed in with some of the plants that I have been growing in the greenhouse.
I have also sown several areas with seeds, which I hope will germinate in the next couple of weeks. Most of the plants in the border are perennials, as are the seeds I have sown, and whilst the will give lots of height and colour, some may not flower until next year.
